Marlessa is a member of the Dusters, one of the more violent of Korvosa's criminal gangs. Her dim-witted boyfriend Kynndors Thok is the nominal leader of the Dusters, but most people know that Marlessa is the one actually pulling the strings.
Marlessa is a Varisian, and is believed to have ties with the local Sczarni, which results in the Dusters being used as Sczarni enforcers from time to time.[1]
