Monarchy (Korvosa)
The monarch of the Varisian city-state of Korvosa rules the town and its dependent settlements from the Crimson Throne in Castle Korvosa.[1]
History
As a former colony of Cheliax, the city was long ruled by a series of lord magistrates beginning with one of the city's founders, Jakthion Korvosa.[2] This abruptly changed during the Chelish Civil War, when the mother country lost interest in its dependency, and Korvosa's citizens decided to change Lord Magistrate Eodred Arabasti's title to king in 4644 AR.[3]
