Veranada Mezzerae is the operator of the Jeggare Light, a lighthouse located across from the Varisian city of Korvosa, where the Jeggare River flows into the Varisian Gulf. Veranada was recently transformed into a terrifying vampiric creature known as a penanggalen by a cult of Urgathoa in order to assure that she would grant safe harbor to the plague ship Direption.^[1]
