Spire drake

Appearing like a large, gaunt, spine-covered bat, spire drakes are curious about magic and unusually intelligent for their kind. Wielding the power of the Negative Energy Plane in their breath weapon, the spire drake may spawn wights among their kills.¹

Proud of their treasure hoards, spire drakes hunt for magic items and demand them as tribute from travelers passing through their territories and may accept a magic item in exchange for safe passage. Their magical acquisitions are then displayed for all rival drakes to see and envy.¹
