Hora
Horai1 are nymphs of a season, associated with a specific time of the year—one of the solstices or one of the equinoxes—rather than a location.2
Horai erect simple astronomical calendars near their home, which they use to pin the time of their associated solstice or equinox. Even on a cloudy day, there is enough sunlight to satisfy the hora's need to be at their calendar at dawn, otherwise they suffer a draining of energy.2
Bound in season
Each hora is tied with and named after one of the four seasons and powered in that season, while weakened in its opposite season.2
Hora queens
Hora queens' regions are much wider than a normal hora's area and most hora queens watch over their protected region in pairs: one each from two opposing seasons sharing the same region. Indeed, the designated region will be weaker in an hora queen's opposite season unless there is an hora queen who partners her bound to that opposing season.3
