Isle of the Penitent

The Isle of the Penitent is a forested and fog-bound island located on the plane of Nirvana. The isle offers a rare opportunity for redemption to evil-doers who experienced regret for their actions upon dying.

A celestial of Nirvana who takes up the soul's cause in the Boneyard can advocate for them to be judged and sent to Nirvana for rehabilitation on the Isle of the Penitent, where the soul is offered a chance to relieve and reflect on their evil actions, and hopefully grow. The releasing of evil deeds gives the island a sense of misery, a phenomenon generally uncharacteristic to good-aligned planes.

Souls who successfully rehabilitate eventually ascend into the ranks of the angels.
