The Whelk is a pirate vessel that operated out of the Shackles and whose former captains were associated with the so called "Monster Captain" Kered Firsk. The Whelk is a low-slung war sloop that is named for its prow decorations: a spiral-tilled mosaic on the prow of the boat that looks like a whelk.[1] The status of the Whelk is unknown as its captain and many of its crew were killed in a raid on Moonplum fighting against the Pathfinder captain Challys Argent and the crew of the Aspidochelone. During this raid the ship lost two captains, Strane Trafton who was killed by the ogre pirate Otondo and Josiah Tongue-Cutter who died during the initial raid.[2]
