This article covers the soul repository in the Boneyard. For the Korvosan ship, see Reprieve.

The soul repository Reprieve, located in the court of Arbiter Alcrazaal in the Boneyard, is a hospice for damaged souls awaiting healing or completion before moving on to Pharasma's judgment.1

Structure

Reprieve is a sturdy building with a single entrance and non-functional windows. Its interior walls are smooth white with gray decor, a floor of prismatic glass tiles in a rainbow mosaic, and a ceiling of black opaque glass that reflects a seemingly endless spiral of all past and potential aspects of any soul that peers into it. All writing in the facility is in Requian.1

The hospice opens into a reception area that connects to record storage, emergency triage, surgery, recovery, and transference facilities; a repository of souls awaiting completion; and offices.1

Staff

Reprieve's manager is Matron Uldrula, a militant shoki soul archivist who is often at odds with Arbiter Alcrazaal over a lack of action against soul predators.2

Eseneths tend to damaged souls, particularly those that require urgent repair in the form of surgical intervention. Each soul patient awaits surgery on a bed of floating black glass with a tombstone detailing their condition.1
