The Gael family is a now nearly-extinguished Sczarni crime family from the Varisian city of Korvosa. It was destroyed by one of their rivals, Guaril Karela, a close Sczarni associate of the Pathfinder Society, and the co-leader of their Exchange faction. Although Karela managed to wipe out most members of the family, Madreki Gael survived and has been attempting to take his revenge on Guaril and the Society ever since.1
