Tribes

Are you sure it is a good idea to add details such as a list of known gnoll tribes in the whole Golarion, within an article about the humanoid "gnoll" ?? IMHO it is better to leave these articles more independent. Not because we are going to use them beyond Golarion but because in this way we have to include in this place all known tribes of gnolls, orcs etc. For example PAIZO sources don't do that. They just have a paragraph or two describing the generic position of the monsters/humanoids in Golarion. --Dmeta 19:55, 8 July 2009 (UTC)

Don't misunderstand; this isn't supposed to be an exhaustive list of gnoll tribes on Golarion. That's why there's a link directing one to the subarticle Gnoll/Tribes, where such an exhaustive listing is appropriate. That said it's recommended, and in truth somewhat expected, to summarize the more common locations that a creature or culture calls home within the parent article itself. As the Pale Mountains region is arguably one of the most concentrated gnoll population centers in the campaign setting, it's appropriate to mention the region briefly here. Though as we add to the subject, it may simply become more expedient to lump the gnoll tribes of the Pale Mountains in with those found in Katapesh as a whole. -- Heaven's Agent 20:57, 8 July 2009 (UTC)

Merge with Kholo (resolved)

Per Pathfinder Remaster renaming, along with a rewrite elevating or retconning Mwangi Expanse kholo culture over Avistani/Katapeshi. -Oznogon (talk) 17:08, 20 November 2023 (UTC)

Suggest a split:
  • Since most 1E cited sources on gnoll society and behavior are specific to Katapesh, preserve that content by moving it to Katapeshi kholo. (Draft: User:Oznogon/Draft:Katapeshi kholo)
  • Since kholo society in the Mwangi Expanse was presented as distinct from that of Katapesh in The Mwangi Expanse, preserve that content by moving it to Mwangi Expanse kholo. (Move Kholo to Mwangi Expanse kholo.)
  • Retain only the common details between all kholo in this article, and move it to Kholo. (Draft: User:Oznogon/Draft:Kholo.)

Per discussions on Discord, this proposal might not be the appropriate resolution. Since it sounds like the kholo ancestry will be detailed in Player Core 2, it might be prudent to just wait for that book. -Oznogon (talk) 00:40, 21 November 2023 (UTC)
Monster Core renames gnolls to kholo and Gnoll (language) to Kholo (language), so time to pack this up and move it. -Oznogon (talk) 20:19, 19 March 2024 (UTC)
Moved. -Oznogon (talk) 21:46, 19 April 2024 (UTC)
