Capital

There is only one reference in the Pathfinder canon to "Melesa", namely on p. 74 of "Burnt Offerings". Since Varisia has been pretty well cataloged, I'm guessing they just forgot about it (i.e. I doubt it's just hiding somewhere). Anybody have any other info on the capital of Edasseril? --brandingopportunity 15:02, September 24, 2009 (UTC)

This has been brought up a lot in chats and on the boards. James said it may be a remnant of the first few issues that never gets mentioned again, but the fact that they are constantly asked about Melesa makes me think they'll do something with it eventually. It also doesn't have to be in Varisia. Thassilon covered parts of what is now the Lands of the Linnorm Kings. As for the capital of Edasseril, I don't know of any more details than you do. -- yoda8myhead 19:27, September 24, 2009 (UTC)
They are such teases, those Paizo folks! --brandingopportunity 19:57, September 24, 2009 (UTC)
I added a reference to Melesa in the article, even if it hasn't been brought up again. Edasseril was what is now called the Ironbound Archipelago, much of which is controlled by Land of the Linnorm Kings, but some of the islands are independent, such as Irrere or the Mordant Spire. --User:Retired deer

Namesake

The name of the country, Edasseril, was taken from the elven princess Telandia Edasseril by the first Runelord of Envy, who looked to the local elven kingdom of Celwynvian and its elves' beauty with characteristic envy.

I'm wondering what's the exact source for this. All the sources I have at hand (The Dead Heart of Xin, Lost Kingdoms, Secrets of Roderic's Cove) only mention that the domain of Edasseril was named after the loveliest elven princess, and do not say anywhere that this Edasseril woman is actually Telandia, or someone else that happens to share the same surname (the latter seems to be what Lost Kingdoms is implying). - HTD (talk) 11:20, 20 November 2018 (UTC)

I added that HTD some while back. My source is listed. At this range, I can't remember any other rationale. A quick look at Lost Kingdoms suggests a family of Edasseril rather than the individual I named, so please do amend with sources. --Fleanetha (talk) 12:12, 20 November 2018 (UTC)
The very first Runelord of Envy, obsessed with the beauty of the elves of the nearby kingdom of Celwynvian, stole the name of the elven princess, Edasseril, for her domain, hoping her glory would outlast that of the elves.
Yep, it only mentions the name Edasseril, not Telandia anywhere. Secrets of Roderic's Cove does the same, and I got the same answer from James Jacobs on the forum. I'll amend the page. - HTD (talk) 23:01, 20 November 2018 (UTC)
