Specterwood

The Specterwood.

The Specterwood1 is a huge forest that dominates much of the northernmost reaches of the Tian Xia kingdom of Shenmen.2 Before the fall of Imperial Lung Wa, the Specterwood was one of the most valuable assets of Shenmen: the officials of Lung Wa cared little for what happened within Shenmen just as long as the lumber from the Specterwood continued to flow.3

The forest's name comes from its reputation for hauntings and other appearances of ghostly spirits and undead, particularly during the summer months. Residents of local villages such as Willowshore referred to these months as the "season of ghosts".4

  1. The forest is also referred to as Spectrewood in Paizo products, but this spelling was intentionally changed beginning with the Season of Ghosts Adventure Path to align with consistent spelling of "specter" elsewhere. The Summer That Never Was spells the name both ways interchangeably.
