Morbais are psychopomp masters of medicine who regulate the flow of deaths caused by diseases.1

Appearance

A morbai resembles an old, hunched-over, three-foot tall woman of the same race as her viewer. She wears two plague masks, one on each side of her head, and hides her small, brown-feathered wings under a ragged shawl.1

Ecology

Morbais maintain a curious kind of balance. On one hand, they combat epidemics so the psychopomp bureaucracy are not overwhelmed, and on the other hand, they create new diseases ensuring that, when the old ones fade out, there is still a steady flow of souls.1

Society

Although morbais can control outbreaks themselves, they prefer to appear as overbearing advisors or patients to inspire doctors to act on their behalf. Usually well-meaning (if somewhat sarcastic), morbais are quick to jump into action against their arch-enemies, leukodaemons.1
