Jains Cobermain was the portly employee of Ardagh's Lanternwatch Cemetery; Ardagh is a town in the north of the county of Odranto in Ustalav. Jains' great fear was being buried alive so he designed a coffin for himself from where he could inform those on the surface if he were prematurely buried. Unfortunately, on his supposed demise, his skinflint brother buried Jains in a cheap coffin. Perhaps Jains was not really dead and his fear came true, perhaps his soul was just angry at his body's treatment by his brother, but now Jains' spirit hungrily haunts Lanternwatch Cemetery. His spirit manifests as a gaunt spectre in tattered rags as though he were a man who had starved in the grave.
