Gurminghome is a city built inside the still-active volcano Mount Charydon in the First World. Its inhabitants, who have bred with fire elementals for centuries, exploit the volcanic heat to power their forges, factories, and an enormous cannon which will, in the future, fire a magical ship into the sun to re-establish communications with their Eldest patron Apholine.
