Deacon Hope is a mnemovore transformed from a holographic avatar of Unity. He shepherds Unity's android followers in sermons that reward community spirit and kindle a sense of empowerment, but also deride non-believers. His allies include the sadistic kasatha Metweska whom he revived from stasis, the alraune Milstamm, and the Blessed Envisioners, a velstrac cabal who had come to the Divinity. He resembles a handsome, olive-skinned, middle-aged man, accompanied by the illusion of a lantern archon that serves to mislead intruders as to his true intention of harvesting their brains in their sleep.
