Contest of skill is a spell that reduces the effectiveness of a nearby target's especially lucky strikes. It is designed to remove the factor of fortune from a duel, which certain duelists of the Aldori style of swordplay regard with disdain. Its material component is a small gong.1

Spells such as this one were designed by select Aldori swordlords or their allies who combine the flashy swordplay fighting style with magic.1
