Name Change

I vote that the name of this category be changed to Prisons/Jails, as the two structures are so close in purpose that we might as well just give them a single category. What do others think? Should there be a separate category for jails? --Brandingopportunity (talk) 07:09, 13 January 2014 (UTC)

While not voting against, I'd urge caution here Brandingopportunity. We can find lots of synonyms for many of the categories in Category:Buildings, so do we append all of them as well? We'd get some ugly category names then - Category:Apothecary's shops/Chemists/Pharmacists/Drug Stores. Even your example, could become Category:Gaols/Jails/Penitentiaries/Prisons/Houses of Correction. If we already had a Category:Jails and a Category:Prisons then I'd definitely want them to merge, but we don't, so can we not just add any jails to Category:Prisons? Finding one synonym that best matches the building is the neatest way, I think. Please forgive the descent to reductio ad absurdum. --Fleanetha (talk) 06:51, 13 January 2014 (UTC)
bump - I managed to answer this point before it was raised according to the time stamps, yet the clock seems to back to normal again as I write this some half hour later. Puzzling. --Fleanetha (talk) 11:23, 13 January 2014 (UTC)
