Caligni vanguards, also called dark champions by other species, are a rare caligni subrace that are born without eyes, and are groomed for a life of rigorous martial training from a young age. They are appreciated, but warily respected, by other caligni, due to their inscrutable motives. Vanguards almost never rebel against the community; some claim that those who do are taken by the owbs.

Appearance

In order to offset their lack of eyes, caligni vanguards have keen hearing and are particularly sensitive to sonic vibrations. Their black plate armour is partially bolted to their body; even those pieces that are not bolted on are rarely taken off. This serves as a reminder of their duty, and they eventually grow accustomed to the pain.
