The dwarf caiman is a miniature species of caiman (approximately the size of a large dog) that lives along tropical rivers and feeds on birds, fish, and other small animals. They can hold still for extraordinarily long periods of time, and are sometimes mistaken for logs because of this. They are also occasionally used by spellcasters as familiars.
