Apholine is an Eldest who, due to a mysterious obsession with the sun, went to it and withdrew from the First World, leaving behind the following message:^[1]

I am close now; yet to fully understand, I must dwell within Her glory.

”

The residents of the town of Gurminghome in the First World still worship Apholine, and seek to fire a magical ship into the sun to re-establish communications with her.^[2]
