The island of Thistletop is located in the Varisian Gulf off the coast of the Nettlewood.1

Geography

Thistletop is an artificial island composed of the head of a giant Thassilonian sentinel statue depicting the Runelord Karzoug,2 and is located on the historical border of Karzoug's Shalast and its bitter rival nation of Bakrakhan. In the millennia since Thassilon's fall, the crumbling statue's head was worn down into a spherical stone, though to this day locals still claim to see the face hidden within the eroded rock.1

This unusually round rock formation contains an intricate and ancient ruin which delves deep into the center of the island. The statue once contained a complex of rooms used by agents of Karzoug, but in the modern age only a few of these remain.1

Use

The Thistletop goblins camped on the island and took their name from it,1 but were defeated by adventurers.3 The Thistletop tribe's warchief Ripnugget returned from the dead as a graveknight and has since begun forming an army of undead goblins to seek vengeance on the nearby town of Sandpoint.4
