Xiong Dao River

From PathfinderWiki
(Redirected from Shuidao River)

The Xiong Dao River1 (pronounced siong dao),2 also called the Shuidao River,3 runs from its source in Po Li northeast through the Chang Liao Jungle and empties into Naikang Bay.34

Part of the Xiong Dao river splits into branches and terminates into the Emperor's Footprint, a miles-wide sinkhole in Po Li.5

Bachuan-Hwanggot border

The river forms the long-contested border between the nations of Bachuan and Hwanggot, and Bachuan's capital of Peijia is built at its delta.3 Hwanggot erected numerous stone fortresses on its side of the river in anticipation of conflict.6 As of 7224 IC, the river is now the subject of a tenuous treaty between Bachuan, which recently underwent dramatic reforms to open business with other nations, and Hwanggot.1

This stretch of the Xiong Dao is muddy, and roots of trees in the Chang Liao Jungle once spanned the river as natural foot bridges but were destroyed either by weather or intentionally as a defensive measure. The river's eastern stretch frequently floods, and only political strife prevents these sparsely vegetated clay lands from becoming self-sustaining rice paddy fields.7
