Now that we're here let's make the most of it. I know that Zuxius did a great job creating an evocative, dungeonesque skin for his Pathfinder Chronicler site. Perhaps we could take a few notes from that and apply it here? I think we need to do something flashy with the look of the site now that we have the ability to do so more easily than before. Nothing too annoying, but not just blue on white. Anyone want to head up this project?

I'm also seeing a few wikis here on wikia that have skins that I think we could make work. I think we need to determine what color scheme we want to use and then revise templates to work with that. Considering that a lot of the images we will be putting up with have white backgrounds, I don't know if a black article background will work for us, though I do generally like the dark skins more than the light. Should we do Paizo purple as a color? Is that cheesy? We could also do what Lilith does with her chat room and change the css to match the color scheme of the current AP? That might make extra work for us every six months though. I also like the textured backgrounds other sites like Darkfall Wiki. Which brings me to our logo...whatever direction we take that, I think we need something more graphically appealing. So let's get this discussion started!

So I started some work on this tonight, hoping to get it to a good enough place to take live in the next few days. My knowledge of css and the anatomy of a wiki page are lacking though, so I'm sort of muddling through it. Angela from wikia took it live so you should see it. Let me know what you think. I feel like I'm talking to myself a little bit at the moment, but if anyone reads this, I could use some help with getting the texture to work seamlessly from one area of the page to the next as well as at the bottom of the page. Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

Hello, yoda8myhead. Great work!
Thanks, Yoda8myhead. I think it's coming along nicely.

So if the silent community (hello?) approves of the new parchment look, the next step is to change the existing templates to better match the color scheme. This is most necessary in the blue ones such as {{Legacy of Fire}} and other content templates. I'd also like to look into changing the TOC color to one that wasn't off-white so that they and other elements that use this color don't stick out so much. Some input from other visually-minded individuals would be great.

Don't worry, Yoda8myhead. I'm here.

Sorry, I tend to only look for new posts here every few days. I used to rely on the emails of old boards to tell me about updates... I keep forgetting to look on the side bar for the forum.

That's it? Just a lousy excuse? Give me some feedback on the skin! You're a programmer. Help me out with the css coding on the last few glitches.

Haha- I tried to stay away from the website languages, because knowing my lazyness, I I would find some lousy job in web design and not look for anything better. I prevented that by not learning more than basic web design stuff. That being said, I can pick it up quickly enough now that I have a real job... what parts do you want me to figure out?

Question: Does the skin have different backgrounds for signed in users vs non signed in users? When I'm not signed in I see a wood-like background, but when I'm logged in I only see a white background (the sidebar also changes slightly)

You need to change your preferences (under MORE at the top of the page) so that administrators can override your personal skin selection. That should do it. If it doesn't then there's something else going on. You might also need to force refresh the logged-out page? In any case, that's parchment, not wood.

Sorry for my absence of late; I'm the only active Sysop over at HammerWiki at the moment, and WAR just recently saw a new major game update and event, so it's been eating my project time pretty thoroughly. But I did want to let you know that I love the new look. Very nice indeed.

I am a fan of it too, Mark.
